Description of the disaster
The snow storm that hit Lebanon on the 6th of January 2015 caused extensive damage to communities as well as infrastructures. The Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) started its operations and responded from day one of the disaster by evacuating 1,919 to a safer location after temperatures went extremely low and people were affected by gas and heat suffocation. Some weeks after the first storm, on the 10th and 17th of February two successive major storms hit the country severely damaging roads, coastal roads, marine and infrastructures. The LRC remobilized its resources- 60 jeeps and 40 ambulances and was on high alert to respond to the needs of around 942 affected people.
