GENERAL SITUATION
Sanctuary of Rakhine Muslims to Bangladesh 20 years ago became one of the bleeding wounds of Bangladesh. Arakanese Muslims in Bangladesh continue to struggle for survival without any legal status, perceived as illegal immigrants by the government, to the extent of the country's economic, socio-cultural and unfavorable living conditions, deprived of international standards in the public housing centers, residential camps and surrounding areas.Not accepted by the society, flinging their situation up in their faces at every opportunity that they are illegal immigrants who occupied their country, on the other hand, recognized with the title of stateless by the Government of Myanmar, Arakanese Muslims’ struggle for survival, once again, came to the agenda of the international community on 28 May 2012, after a series of violent clashes in the Rakhine State of Myanmar. Bangladesh Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina’s decision of not to accept the Arakanese Muslims who fled to Bangladesh for life security reasons into the country, has been reacted by the international community.
