Highlights
· As of 13th October, UNICEF and partners have supported over 169,620 South Sudanese in Uganda since the influx began in mid-December 2013, including 103,583 in Adjumani, 17,820 in Arua, 40,456 in Kiryandongo, 144 in Kyangwali, 42 in Nakivale and 7,575 in Kampala.
· To increase access to therapeutic feeding services to children, UNICEF and Concern World Wide supported establishment of two additional therapeutic feeding centres (TFCs) in Arua district increasing coverage of existing TFCs in Adjumani, Arua and Kiryandongo Districts to 69 per cent (100 TFCs at 144 Health facilities).
· Over 12,000 women and children now have access to safe water as UNICEF supported completion of three hybrid Solar motorised water schemes (two in Kiryandongo settlement and one at Rhino Camp, Siripi settlement).
· In the last month, 60 children (39 males and 21 females) have been reunified so far and active tracing is still ongoing to reunify over 216 children.
· Some 2,780 children and 600 caregivers, benefitted from UNICEF and African Development Corps (ADC) organized International Day of Peace events on September 21 in Adjumani and Kiryandongo refugee and host communities. The event sensitized pupils on how to bring peace to their homes and communities.
