HIGHLIGHTS
Typhoon Koppu made landfall on 18 October, in Casiguran, Aurora Province as a category 3 typhoon. There has been no Declaration of state of emergency from the national government, but a total of 2 provinces (Aurora and Isabela), one city and 11 Municipality were declared under state of calamity2 .
Extensive damages occurred along the large areas covered by the typhoon, with cost of Infrastructural damages is estimated to be PhP1.1 billion ($25 million), and agricultural cost of PHP PhP8.2 million (US$ 176 million).
2,356,408 persons (536,408 families) affected in 7 regions; 781,827 persons (172,308) families) were displaced, including 114,865 persons (25,165 families) in 434 evacuation centers, as of 4 October 2015, but number continue to increase as more Local Government Units are providing complete reports.
50 deaths and 86 injuries, as a direct consequence from the typhoon, were confirmed by the DoH as of 24 Oct 2015, some areas have yet to provide a complete report.
The rapid damage and needs assessment (RDANA), carried out by 6 teams, is expected to report on 28 October.
A total of 16 health facilities are reported as partially damaged, all of them fully or partially functioning.
UNHCT and partners are providing targeted support in health, logistics, camp coordination and camp management, emergency shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food, communication and protection upon Government requests.
The first quad-cluster meeting lead by the DoH took place on 19 October with the next one scheduled for Monday, 26 October. The first Health Cluster meeting will be held on 27 October.
