2015 CHF 2nd round allocation

Khartoum – The WASH Programme concluded the review of 16 WASH sector concept notes for CHF 2nd round allocation. Six concept notes have been recommended for development of proposals by Care International, Tearfund, ASSIST, IOM, NCA and WHO. The sector was allocated a total of US $ 1.8 million to cover the critcal WASH needs in Central Darfur (Zalingie and Nertiti) and South Darfur(Nyala, Nyala North, Gereida camp, and Ed El Fursan). The projects will focus on improving and sustaining WASH services in these locations prioritized due to their low level of WASH services. To improve the quality of project proposals, the WASH sector will organized a briefing session with all recommended partners prior to proposal writing. Project implementation is expected to begin by December 2015 for a period of one year.

RedR-UK to Support WASH Sector Improvement Agenda

Under the 4th pillar of the sector improvement agenda (tailor made support) RedR-UK through UNICEF funding will kick start a structured sector capacity building project. The project will initially target partners staffs from national to states level and later cascade to the site level. The capacity building project was designed following the sector capacity assessment and its associated capacity building framework and plan developed by RedR in late 2014 and modified in October 2015. The first phase will start with revieweing and developing standards followed by developing training curricular and will end with delivery of various trainings.
The ultimate aim of the capacity building project is to improve WASH service delivery.
