HIGHLIGHTS

  • 28,164 refugees and migrants have crossed the border into fyR Macedonia during the reporting period 18 - 24 November, with a daily average of 4023. Since UNHCR began monitoring the departures from Gevgelija on 1 July 2015 some 586,000 refugees and migrants have departed.

  • While onward movement continued through fYR Macedonia during the re-porting period, new border controls were introduced on 18 November in neighboring countries, which started screening out nationalities perceived as not being in need of international protection, namely non-Syrian, Afghani and Iraqi. This has caused a slight drop in arrivals and some concentration of refu-gees and migrants at the country’s borders and transit centers.

  • Intention to apply for asylum: 279,914 applications have been filed from 19 June to 24 November 2015 (source: Ministry of Interior).
