Chennai on Thursday turned a virtual island whereas the other coastal areas of Tamil Nadu were marooned after unprecedented rains in 100 years pounded the city. The road and rail links are destroyed. Late tonight, the Airport Authority of India announced that Chennai airport will remain shut till December 6 in the wake of the battering downpour and predictions of more rains in the next 72 hours.
Chennai city and neighboring districts braced for more rains as the Met department predicted heavy to very heavy rains in the next four days.
