Situation Report
The waters have receded as of now, and people are slowly attempting to return to what is left of their homes in most areas of Chennai. As the water receded, from many areas, the challenge become clearer-of homeless thousand, the spectrum of an epidemic, and the urgency to stitch together badly battered infrastructure. Cleaning up streets of muck, repairing roads and bridges will be another huge task for state administration.

Impact
In T Nagar (Tambaiyah Street), Saidapet, Tambram, CTO Colony, Urapakkam, Thoraipakam, Virgugumbakkam (Vembuli Amman Koil Street) and Jaffarkhan areas of Chennai Urban, there is severe water stagnation and mosquitos are forming. These areas need immediate WASH assistance to avoid any further outbreak of water borne diseases.
In Kancheepuram, Edayathur Village (400 families) and Irumbulicheri village (200 families), Nerumbur Panchayat and Thirukazhukundram taluka are completely cut off as the Palaru River flood has damaged the bridge.
Close to 3000 dalit families are stranded for over 20 days without relief.
It has been observed that some areas in North Chennai are still remaining unmet for relief and response.

Automobile companies in Kanchipuram, registered huge losses. The Ashok Leyland plant at Ennore, two plants of Hyundai Motor India Ltd.in Sriperumbudur, Ford India BMW plant and TVS Motors were among those impacted.
