Highlights

RAINS & FLOODS: 7,500 people are affected in the capital of Paraguay due to the overflow of Paraguay River. 9,000 people located in the Central Department of the country are also affected by a thunderstorm.

EL NIÑO PHENOMENON: In Bolivia, 40,000 people are affected by floods, hail and drought, all attributed to the El Nino phenomenon. National authorities have authorized US $ 21 million for the emergency response.

ZIKA VIRUS: The Ministry of Health of Panama is doing a research on at least 65 suspected cases of Zika virus. Nine countries in the region had confirmed the presence of the virus so far. PAHO/WHO has issued an Epidemiological Alert.
