Philippines: NDRRMC Update: SitRep No. 07 re Preparedness Measures for Typhoon "Nona" (I.N. Melor)

I. SITUATION OVERVIEW

Tropical Storm {TS) "NONA" with International Name "MELOR" has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the morning of 12 December 2015. On 13 December 2015, 4:00 AM, "NONA" intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm and further intensified to a Typhoon at 4:00 PM, on the same date.
On 13 December 2015, 4:00 AM, "NONA" intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm and further intensified to a Typhoon at 4:00 PM, on the same date. TY "NONA" has already made 5 landfalls:

  • 1st landfall at 11 :00 AM, 14 December 2015 in Batag Island, Laoang, Northern Samar
  • 2nd landfall at 4:00 PM, 14 December 2015 in Bulusan, Sorsogon
  • 3rd landfall at 9:45PM, 14 December 2015 in Burias Island, Masbate
  • 4th landfall at 5:30AM, 15 December 2015 in Banton Island, Romblon
  • 5th landfall at 10:30 AM, 15 December 2015 in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro

Typhoon "NONA" has slightly weakened and is now over the West Philippine Sea. The eye of the typhoon is located at 125 km Northwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gustiness of up to 160 kph. "NONA" is forecasted to move West Northwest at 9 kph.

Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) No. 3 is hoisted in Northern Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island; PSWS No. 2 in Bataan, Batangas, Cavite, Northern Oriental Mindoro and the rest of Occidental Mindoro; and PSWS No. 1 in Metro Manila, Pampanga,
Southern Zambales, Bulacan, Laguna, Calamian Group of Islands and the rest of Oriental Mindoro. PSWS elsewhere is now lifted.

Flashfloods and landslides are expected over the provinces of Mindoro, Bataan,
Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan and Metro Manila. Meanwhile, at 2:00 AM, the Tropical Depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was estimated at 1,425 km east southeast of Mindanao.

Stormy weather will be experienced over the provinces of Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island, Northern Oriental Mindoro, Bataan, Batangas and Cavite with rough to very rough seas. Rains with gusty winds is expected over Metro Manila, Pampanga, Southern Zambales, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, Calamian group of islands and the the rest of Oriental Mindoro. Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Northern Luzon light to moderate rains will be experienced over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southwest to southeast over Visayas. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest with slight to moderate seas.
