SCOPE e-vouchers launched in Mingkaman. On 15 June, WFP and its partner OXFAM began issuing its e-voucher cards with SCOPE biometric registration in Mingkaman with beneficiaries accessing commodities on the market that same day. The programme targets 15,000 households (70,000 people). On 01 July, ACTED will take over as the voucher partner. The vouchers are worth 45 South Sudanese Pounds per person and replace 30% of the food basket. The rest of the basket is distributed as normal. With the cards, beneficiaries have a month to purchase items like milk, sugar, rice, oil and a larger variety of pulses at more than 70 selected markets.
Update on 15 trucks impounded in Yei. A WFP recovery mission arrived in Mundri on 13 June to negotiate for the 15 trucks, impounded in Yei since 25 May, and WFP food from the convoy that was reportedly still available. The mission met with the County Commissioner for Mundri West, the Mundri military commander and the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria.
The 15 trucks were released on 13 June and returned to Juba on 15 June after refuelling.
The second part of the mission included 27 trucks, sent to Western Equatoria to transport any available looted food back to Juba. Negotiations for the food were unsuccessful, as the Government authorities claim the food is in an insecure location which falls outside of their area of control. The 27 empty trucks will return to Juba on 19 June.
