Highlights
An estimated 276,330 IDPs have fled across 16 of the 18 governorates in Iraq, including within Anbar Governorate itself since military operations and ISIL attacks escalated on 8 April 2015. Of those, 25,697 families (approximately 154,000 individuals) fled Ramadi between 15 May and 8 June.
Over the past week, the UNICEF and WFP-led Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) consortium assisted an estimated 252,000 displaced people through the distribution of 36,000 RRM kits, including bottled water, bucket or jerry cans, hygiene kits and food parcels across 23 locations in six governorates. Since 8 April the RRM Consortium distributed a total of 138,000 RRM kits, benefitting 970,000 displaced people across more than 89 locations in hard-to-reach areas. 1
UNICEF provided support to the Ministry of Health to transfer essential vaccines to Habaniya Tourist City and Khaldiyah in Anbar Governorate, covering vaccination needs for three months.
UNICEF and Danish Refugee Council completed intensive training for 40 volunteers on the Conventions of the Rights of the Child, Mine Risk Education and the Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM) on Grave Violations of Child Rights qualifying them to work in UNICEF’s Child Friendly Spaces.
UNICEF distributed 600 sets of appropriate clothes inside Kut City to help children cope with the hot summer temperatures.
