1. OPERATIONAL UPDATE
With winter coming and agencies limited budget this year, a major concern has been ensuring refugees are prepared for the harsh weather. To address this UNHCR has been distributing firewood and blankets across the district, vouchers for shelter materials and supplies to winterize as well as tents in areas that have particularly harsh climate where refugees have not been able to construct transitional shelter. To help single female head-of households and the elderly, UNHCR has also provided funds for the necessary labor to build the transitional shelter.
UNIQLO has also provided a generous contribution of warm clothing, the first tranche includes 21,242 winter HeatTech leggings for women; these have already been distributed to 1,554 households and will reach another 5,450 households in the coming weeks. An additional 15,000 pieces of clothing will be provided in early 2016. There is a concern that like last year refugees from more remote areas, including Barmel
