Highlights for today (24 January 2016):
i. Three (3) new confirmed cases reported from Edo state
ii. Ten (10) new suspected cases were reported from 5 states: Bauchi (2); Oyo (1); Edo (4); FCT (2);
Ebonyi (1)
iii. One (1) new death in a suspected case from Ebonyi state
iv. No rumour under investigation
v. Kogi state has recorded negative laboratory results since first suspected case was reported and as
such has been removed from the list. As at today, 18 states are currently following up contacts, or
have suspected cases with laboratory results pending or laboratory confirmed cases.
vi. Due to laboratory results, all suspected cases that tested negative have been removed from the
data base. The total reported cases are now reflecting the laboratory confirmed cases and
suspected cases (pending lab results and unknown)
vii. Outbreak investigation is ongoing in the states and retrospective cases which fit the standard case
definition for suspected case are being updated.
