Fiji: National Emergency Operation Center: Tropical Cyclone Winston Situation Report 46 of 02/03/2016

The purpose of this report is to provide the update on the current operations undertaken after TC Winston.

This Situation Report is issued by the National Emergency Operation Centre and covers the period from 1600hrs 02/03/2016 to 0000 hours on 03/03/2016. Updates in this report summarise all reports and briefs submitted from various EOC’s in the four divisions.

1.0 HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST 12 HOURS

(i) 925 evacuation centres are still open round the country where 55,439 people are taking shelter.

(ii) Food rations and relief supplies covered an approximate 80 per cent of areas affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

(iii) MV Cagivou as at 1400hrs departed Vanua Balavu today for Suva carrying part of the Structural Assessment Team

(iv) Honorable Prime Minister accompanied by the Eastern Divisional Controller is in Ovalau taking rations and equipment’s to assist in the rehabilitation in Ovalau.

(v) MLC Sigavou unload water tanks in Yanuca (21 x 5000litres) at 1300Hrs and Yacata Island.

(vi) Naqara to Soqulu (South) and Naqara -Naselesele (North) in Taveuni are now accessible by public transport.

(vii) MV Iloilo Vatu departed Suva at 2345hrs from Suva for Taveuni. Ration scale for 1 month. (ETD Taveuni 1300hours) (viii) Bua is now accessible by Vodafone (ix) 4 Military Engineers from Rakiraki EOC is deployed to Lautoka EOC for Structural Damages Assessment.

(x) 11 Police officers deployed to Rakiraki EOC to replace the 4 military Officers that was engaged in the stores and ration distribution.

(xi) MV Vatulawa is now berthed at Nabouwalu with relief supplies for Bua province.
