The purpose of this report is to provide the update on the current operations undertaken after TC Winston.
This Situation Report is issued by the National Emergency Operation Centre and covers the period from 0000hrs - 0800 hours, on Sunday, 13/03/2016. Updates in this report summarise all reports and briefs submitted from the four (04) Divisional Emergency Operation Centres (DEOC’s).
1.0 NATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
A total of 317 active evacuation centers nationwide with the Eastern Division recording 124 and Western Division with 193. Northern and Central Division Evacuation centres are all closed.
A total of 10,060 evacuees across the nation with 3,222 from the Eastern Division and 6,838 from the Western Division.
The Fiji Development Bank announced an estimated $5.4million in damage to its developmental programs in rural and agricultural areas affected by TC Winston.
International Organization for Migration (IOM) have expressed its solidarity with the Government and the people of Fiji to build back safer, better and stronger livelihoods. The IOM handed over 80 tonnes of relief items to the Fijian Government at the Nadi International Airport on 12/3/16
A New Zealand based company operating out of Fiji yesterday handed over 10 tonnes of potatoes and onions to the Fijian Government.
A total of 52 more seriously injured patients were brought to Suva and admitted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in the aftermath of TC Winston. 15 are still admitted as of March 7.
The European Commission has announced that it is making available 1million euro (F$2.36m) in humanitarian aid funding to provide emergency supplied for those severely affected by TC Winston.
The Queen, as Head of the Commonwealth, has made a private donation to the relief effort in Fiji following the devastation of Cyclone Winston.
