Highlights
Syria: From its Damascus hub, IOM reached 1,700 beneficiaries with winter NFIs in cross-line and HTR areas. Through joint UN convoys, 1,000 people were reached with blankets and winterization kits in Rural Damascus, and 700 in the HTR area of Barza (Damascus). IOM also provided 207 trucks to UN agencies delivering humanitarian assistance to southern Syria.14,566 beneficiaries received shelter and NFI support in northern Syria.
Jordan: IOM continues to provide numerous workshops and trainings on counter-trafficking and humanitarian border management. In order to raise awareness of human trafficking, IOM also provided 10 awareness-raising sessions to 547 high school students, including Syrian refugees and members of the host communities.
Iraq: IOM provided vocational training in the hospitality sector to 47 beneficiaries in Erbil, as well as 76 people in Dahuk and Sulaymaniyah. 263 Business Support and Enhancement Packages were also distributed to refugees,
IDPs, and host community members.Turkey: IOM Turkey continues to support three food kitchens in Gaziantep, overall reaching 4,000 people every month. Over the upcoming period, IOM is aiming to strengthen monitoring of the kitchen, including looking at the nutritional content of the food provided.
Lebanon: As part of the ongoing psychosocial support projects in the Bekaa, Baalbek, and Sarafand, IOM launched three sewing workshops. 40 women will learn how to design and make handbags and scarves, which will be sold at an exhibition at the end of April.
