Highlights:
Category 5 Cyclone Winston, the strongest cyclone to ever hit Fiji and with some of the highest wind speeds at landfall ever recorded globally, severely affected around 40% of the population.
The Australian Government has committed an additional FJD 6 million (US$ 2.9 million) to provide WASH and education supplies to affected schools
UNICEF has provided over US$ 1.6 million in emergency relief supplies

UNICEF’s response with partners
US$ 1.6 million of UNICEF supplies(including logistics costs) have been provided to the Government of Fiji and are being distributed to the most affected areas, including supplies valued at US$ 82,527 from the Australian Government and US$ 57,575 from the New Zealand Government.
39,000 people have been provided with supplies to ensure safe drinking water, delivered by the Government of Fiji and funded by Australia, New Zealand, UNICEF and other organisations.
Over 5,600 children and their teachers are back at school using temporary learning spaces provided by UNICEF.
US$ 4.2 million has been received against UNICEF’s Flash Appeal of US$ 7.1 million. A further
US$ 2.8 million is needed to meet critical gaps for the WASH, Education and Nutrition responses.
13 emergency responders have been mobilised by UNICEF Pacific to support the response of UNICEF Pacific and its partners.
