This Situation Report is issued by the National Emergency Operation Centre and covers the period from 0000hrs - 0800 hours, Monday, 14/03/2016. The report summarises all reports and briefs submitted from the four (04) Divisional Emergency Operation Centres (DEOC’s).
1.0 NATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
A total of 291 evacuation centers are still active out of which 124 in the Eastern Division and 167 in the Western Division. Evacuation Centers in the North and Central Divisions has all closed.
The total number of evacuees to date is 8098 with 2349 from the Eastern Division and 5749 from the Western Division.
Weather Bulletin issued at 5.30am on 14/3/16: Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji Group: Some showers about Southern Lau group, the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands. Elsewhere, fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers. Moderate to rough seas.
The Fantasy Island Managing Director, Abbas Ali, donated $20,000 towards the Prime Minister’s Relief Funds.
Director NDMO confirmed that the National Disaster Management Office has not received any reports from Police on the abuse of food rations.
The estimated cost that is required to provide immediate crop, livestock and fisheries support to 25,370 people affected by TC Winston is $6.11million and more will be needed for the medium to long term recovery.
Dr. Mahendra Reddy, Minister for Education, after visiting Koro Island on Saturday, 12th March, 2016 confirmed that schools in Koro will start on the week of Monday,13th March 2016.
2.0 STATUS SUMMARY UPDATE ON DEATHS DURING TC WINSTON, EVACUATION CENTRES AND EVACUEES
The total number of deaths remained at 44 with only two (2) Divisions, Western and Eastern still have active Evacuation Centres.
