In the West, the authorities transferred 150 Syrian refugees (mostly families) from Sid RAP to Principovac RAP. Another group of approximately 10 women and 14 children, mostly single mothers, were transferred from Adasevci RAP to Tutin and Sjenica Asylum Centres. More transfers to Principovac from Sid RAP are expected in the coming days.
28* persons expressed intent to seek asylum during the reporting period, bringing the total in March 2016 to 505 (*statistics in this section are courtesy of the Ministry of Interior).
Committee on Migration and Refugees of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly adopted a draft resolution, “Human rights of refugees and migrants – the situation in the Western Balkans”, stating that “Europe has so far failed to find a proper, sustainable response to the refugee and migration crisis in the Western Balkans – mutual trust and confidence have been undermined by unilateral actions”. SOUTH
632 refugees were hosted at the Reception Centre (RC) in Presevo.
REMAR offered hot meals, fruit, juice, and water in their tent and Caritas and Red Cross distributed breakfast, fruits and soup inside and outside the Tobacco Factory. UNHCR/SPDE distributed 667 water bottles, 20 UNHCR blankets, five boots, 73 pairs of socks and 113 WFP HEBs. Divac Foundation distributed other clothes and food to refugees. Philanthropy distributed one time cash assistance to all refugees in the RC.
The Health Clinic assisted 23 refugees inside the RC. Four cases of scabies were identified in the RC and in agreement with SCRM and DRC Health Coordinator, all ten individuals affected were put in quarantine. At the same time, preventative measures, including disinfection of premises, burning/disinfection of blankets/linen/clothes, and counselling of refugees is undertaken. The list of children accommodated in the RC will be shared with the Public Health Institute in Vranje to allow for preparation of a vaccination plan in accordance with the national legislation in Serbia.
The UNICEF/DRC/CSW child friendly space hosted 33 children and 25 women.
Three individuals who expressed their intention to seek asylum in Serbia were assisted with transport by Mercy Corps and Border Free to Sjenica as the assigned Asylum Centre.
