Highlights

• Completeness for weekly reporting was 45% for the non-conflict affected states and 75% for the IDP sites.

• 74 new suspect measles cases reported from five states.

• 39 cases including 10 deaths of suspect VHF reported in Aweil North and Aweil West Counties with 24 December 2015 as the earliest date of onset. Sample testing is underway.

• ARI remains the top cause of morbidity in IDPs.

• Malaria, medical complications of acute malnutrition, and pneumonia were the most common causes of mortality during the reporting week.

Special focus on measles

• New measles outbreaks confirmed in Twic and Bentiu (Town/PoC). Table 4.1 shows counties with confirmed measles outbreaks in 2016.

• This week, 74 new suspect measles cases reported from 12 counties in five states with most cases reported from Abyei (Table 4.1).

• Mop up vaccination ongoing in Abyei; and preparations for response including reactive vaccination are underway in Aweil West, Twic, and Bentiu PoC/Town.
