Highlights
The trend of Burundian new arrivals seeking safety, protection and assistance in Uganda continued to decrease this week. In Nakivale, a total of 35 new Burundian new arrivals were received at the settlement compared to 54 as previously reported. Of these 15 (all male) arrived through Katuna, 16 (11 Male and 5 Female) arrived through Mirama Hills and 4 (3 male and 1 Female) were received through Mutukula border. Majority of the new arrivals (21) walked to the reception centre while 14 were transported by AIRD from the borders.
The Burundians continue to flee from Kirundo, Bujumbura Marie and Kibitoke,
Muyinga, Rumonge, and Gitega provinces reporting attacks from militia groups, abduction of male youth with those that resist recruitment killed.In Rwamwanja, construction of two temporary accommodation structures has commenced at the reception centre. This will help increase the reception capacity from the current 588 to approximately 738 individuals. This means more space for new arrivals.

Operational context
In Nakivale, the joint UNHCR, OPM, ARC physical head count at Kabazana Reception Centre shows that a total of 328 persons of concern are residing there (177 Burundians, 149 Congolese and 7 Rwandese plus one male South Sudanese, slightly lower than last week’s 372 individuals and almost half of the previous population (632) because OPM has been relocating new arrivals to their 15m*20m plots on a weekly basis. The reception centre can hold up to 338 individuals.
In Kyaka II, 148 Individuals (65 households) are residing at the reception center, among them 49 Burundians and 99 Congolese individuals.
