Highlights
SEISMIC ACTIVITY: A 6.1 earthquake occurred on 9 June in Nicaragua. Authorities are assessing the damage and delivering humanitarian assistance to affected people. It is estimated that some 3,000 houses have damages.
EPIDEMIC -AH1N1: An increase in cases of AH1N1 flu has appeared in several countries in the region. Mexico, Ecuador, Panama and Bolivia are among those affected.
COLD WAVE: Since May, a drop in temperatures is affecting several departments in Peru. Currently about 365 people are affected in Huancavelica.
