Due to the Magazine Wharf outbreak which has produced 6 cases over the past 10 days, IOM together with US CDC, WHO, DfID, and the Ebola Response Consortium is responding with a number of counter measures. IOM and CDC held an IPC mico-surge training for 41 participants on 25 June; IOM social mobilizers are in Magazine Wharf conducting awareness raising; 13 IOM and 8 Concern IPC training staff have been deployed to 8 local PHUs to provide mentoring to facility personnel beginning Monday, 29 June; and a rapid needs assessment of medical supply will be undertaken. So far 2 suspect cases have been identified and medical services alerted immediately. The NERC will provide 4 vehicles to support the initiative.
As of 27 June, IOM’s National Ebola Training Academy in partnership with WHO, COMAHS, RSLAF, US CDC and MOHS has trained 8,217 health care workers and frontline responders in Freetown (7,094) and via mobile trainings (1,123) on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) modules.
On 25 June IOM deployed 14 new monitors at prioritized screening points throughout Port Loko district.
IOM teams have completed the rapid health assessment of Christian Health Association of Sierra Leone private medical facilities across 8 districts. Together with partner IMC a final report will now be compiled.
