Summary
This Emergency Appeal operation shall contribute to the fight against yellow fever, cholera and measles epidemics in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by supporting social mobilization during the yellow fever vaccination campaigns organized by the Government and its partners, as well as carry out vector control activities and surveillance for yellow fever, cholera and measles. The DRC Red Cross (DRC RC) shall be in charge of community supervision, active case research, early referral to support structures and for cholera specifically, it shall support water purification activities and rehydration of cases in the seven (7) targeted provinces. The operation is due to end in January 2017 and the final report made available three months after the end of the operation.
This Emergency Appeal seeks CHF 2,247,478 to support the DRC Red Cross (DRC RC) to deliver assistance to 12,327,181 people in emergency health, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion and National Society capacity building. The planned response reflects the current situation and information available at this point of the evolving operation, and will be adjusted based on further developments and the more detailed assessments to be carried out by DRC Red Cross volunteers.
