As per the information received from government as well as from local news papers about 1,80,716 people are affected by flood in 7 districts of Assam as per information received from ASDMA on 21st July 2016. The situation has turned crititical in Bongaigaon District as reported in local news papers. Among the worst affected districts include Golaghat with 86,306 population being affected and Jorhat District with 53,127 population. District authorities have opened 24 Relief Camps and 06 Relief Distribution Centres in Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivsagar and Bongaigaon District that house total 4,602 inmates. Two persons lost their lives in devastating landslides in the Guwahati city as reported in Assam Tribune, July 21, 2016. Another woman ware reportedly killed at Kharghuli locality after a chunk of hill fell and buried the victim as reported in the Assam Tribune 21st July 2016.
