CCCM

• The Community Leadership Structures Mapping Survey has been completed and indicates strong support for the proposed governance structures. Community leaders and camp management will now begin to formalize procedures to undertake fair and transparent elections.

• Drainage clear works are complete, with Oxfam to assume maintenance responsbility from 29 August.

• The CCCM Cluster meeting identified: the need to emphasize communicating with communities’ initiatives; that IDP movements between sites should not be encouraged by camp managers and; the urgent need for CCCM training for collective center camp managers.

DTM: Continuing the trend from throughout July, this week saw a decrease in new arrivals to the UNMISS protection site compared to the previous 7-days, similarly the trend at the Cathedral site remains about the same with fewer entries than exits. All new entries are from Tadu, Hai Salam and Bussere and all cite insecurity as the primary motivating factor. Those leaving cite lack of food, lack of access to health and education services and uncomfortable living conditions as the primary reasons.

S-NFI

• Camp Management and Shelter teams have identified areas to erect 22 communal shelters which will have the capacity to provide shelter for around 1,400 IDPs, with construction to begin this week. IDPs without shelter living along service areas will be prioritized.

• 108 households received plastic sheeting in Lokoloko this week.

WASH

• 18 water points with 106 taps are functional at the site. IOM continues to conduct daily water monitoring for Free Residual Cholorine, Chlorine demand and Jar Test; all water is safe for consumption.

• A total of 13 boreholes have been repaired in Wau South Municipality. 12 hygiene promotion activities have been conducted in the same areas, with messages over the last 7-days promoting good community habits and hand washing.

HEALTH

• The top morbidity at the three clinics was malaria followed by Upper Respiratory Tract Infection, representing 79% of all health consultations at the three clinics. High numbers of acute watery diarrhea continue to be reported from the Cathedral site, population data is being collected and will soon be shared.

• Routine vaccination continued during the week with 242 children receiving vaccinations. 68 pregnant, and 120 non-pregnant women received the tetanus toxoid vaccine during the week, which was an increase from the previous week.

• 1,951 individuals were provided with health promotion messages at the three clinics, including malaria and drug adherence, nutrition, vaccination and cholera.

• Psychosocial support (PSS): 14,945 individuals were provided with PSS messages through 715 household visits, messages promote returning to normal behavior to help cope with change and to seek medical services if necessary. A further 96 cases were identified across the three sites and provided with PSS counselling, including one case who had experienced gender based violence and 30 cases who were provided with grief counselling, with referrals of vulnerable cases to appropriate service providers.
