I. Key Highlights
♦ A total of 2,761,104 (93 %) individuals 6 months and above have been vaccinated in the 22 most recently vaccinated districts as of 29 August 2016
♦ The campaign concluded on the 28 August and supplementary vaccination activities were initiated in five districts to achieve the goal (80% coverage)
♦ The IMS supported the campaign with surveillance, social mobilization and logistic staff from the various partners totalizing 42 professional from UNICEF, CDC, Cuban Cooperation and WHO (HQ-AFRO-GOARN) as well as 30 volunteers from IRC
♦ Preparation of the next vaccination phase (1.98 M doses pending to from the last ICG approval) and a coverage survey
♦ Ongoing support for surveillance, border health, risk communication and research
II. Epidemiological Situation as of 25 August 2016
Week 34 statistics (11 to 25 August)
• Of 57 suspected cases reported, 54 samples were tested by the Reference La-boratory. One(1) case tested positive for yellow fever with a date of onset on 23 June 2016 from Cuanhama, a delayed result to be audited
• Two (2) deaths were reported among the suspected cases during this period.
• Twenty seven (27) districts in 11 provinces reported suspected cases of yellow fever. No district reported new confirmed cases or local transmission.
Cumulative statistics since 05 December:
• A total of 884 laboratory confirmed cases have been reported out of 4041 suspect-ed cases and 3516 laboratory samples tested
• Overall, 371 (CFR = 9.2%) deaths were reported among suspected cases and 121 (CFR 13.7%) among confirmed cases
• Laboratory confirmed cases have been reported for 16 out of 18 provinces in 80 out of 132 districts.
• The last confirmed cases had a date of onset in 23 June. There were 02 from Cuan-hama in Cunene province, and 01 case from Cambambe in Cuanza Norte province
• Vaccination campaigns have been completed in 73 municipalities, with a cumula-tive number of people vaccinated of 17.917.134 (70% of Angola's population
