Highlights and Statistics
- The total number of new refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants in Serbia continues to rise, now to around 4,800. 4,266 (or 89%) of them were accommodated in governmental facilities, including 1,687 in the five Asylum Centres and 2,579 in Refugee Aid Points/Reception Centre. The rest were counted at the border with Hungary and in Belgrade city.
- The number of asylum seekers camping in the open on Serbian soil waiting to be admitted into Hungarian “transit zones” continued to drop, to below 200 (less than 25% of its peak of 1,000 in July), while that accommodated by the Government continued to rise above 4,200 (by almost 400% since July) stretching the capacities of all centres, except the Presevo Reception Centre.
- 104 persons expressed their intent to seek asylum in Serbia over the last four days, bringing the total for month of September to 432 and the whole year to 8,503.
