Highlights
Syria: In August, IOM reached 64,504 beneficiaries in Aleppo, Damascus, Homs, Al-Hasakeh, and Al Quneitra governorates with 20,020 NFIs, out of which 62% were distributed in hard-to-reach areas (of which 51% were in crossline areas).
Lebanon: On 24 August, 460 Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese host community members in South Lebanon received non-food item kits from IOM. Since January, a total of 3,765 individuals have benefited from IOM’s NFI distributions.
Iraq: In August, IOM completed market assessments for cooperatives and greenhouse projects across Dohuk, Sulaymaniyah. The assessments were conducted over a period of three months and focused on beneficiaries’ skills, motivations for forming a cooperative, interests in business and future plans.
Jordan: From 2 to 4 August, IOM participated in a joint operation with WFP, UNHCR and UNICEF that took place in Hadalat and Rukban. The relief operation provided one-month ration of food, bread, jerry cans and hygiene products to an estimated 75,000 Syrians stranded at the borders of Jordan.
Turkey: During the month of August, over 800 households in Hatay province received e-voucher cards from IOM, to purchase commodities at 19 shops in villages of Hassa, Kirikhan and Kumlu districts in Hatay. The e-voucher card project not only meets the urgent needs of the vulnerable, but also enhances the dignity and right to self-determination of the refugees.
