Over 1.3 million children and adults across the contact line have little or no access to safe water, due to damaged or destroyed water lines and acute water shortages.
UNICEF has responded by delivering safe drinking water by trucks as a last resort measure to more than 78,630 people. In the past few months, UNICEF has provided safe drinking water to 234,300 people.
UNICEF and its partners have assisted 550,000 people in Donetsk and Luhansk regions to access safe water since January, but additional humanitarian partners are needed for the emergency water and sanitation response.
UNICEF presented the findings of the joint project "Improvement of the psychosocial responses to children and families in eastern and central regions of Ukraine" with the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on 3 July.
During the reporting period, UNICEF provided psychosocial support to 5,910 children through a network of community protection centres and schools. Since January 2015, 30,139 children have received psychosocial support.
