COUNTRY STRATEGY
Under the three year protracted relief and recovery operation (PRRO) and aligned with national priorities, WFP supports transition in Myanmar by providing assistance to and reducing food insecurity and undernutrition among the most vulnerable and food insecure populations in Chin, Kachin, Kayin, Magway, Rakhine, Shan, Wa and Yangon.
The bulk of WFP assistance in Myanmar is carried out through five major operational activities, namely relief, nutrition, support to people living with HIV and Tuberculosis (TB) clients, school feeding and assets creation. WFP actively engages with the Government to enhance national capacity in the areas of food security, emergency preparedness and response, social protection, health and education.
WFP has been present in Myanmar since 1994.
