Syria: 25% of IOM’s NFI distribution ex-Damascus took place in cross-line areas in Al-Hassakeh governorate. Moreover, needs assessments were conducted in hard-to-reach areas in Aleppo Governorate. Based on the results,
IOM’s hub in Turkey will prepare a shipment of NFIs to be distributed to the most vulnerable families. In July,
IOM’s hub in Jordan managed three convoys, including 44 trucks, for humanitarian assistance for southern Syria.Jordan: On 23 and 29 July, IOM in cooperation with UNICEF facilitated a training to ensure that the Jordanian medical staff operating at the border are fully trained on issues concerning lactating mothers and pregnant women.
Iraq: IOM supports Syrian refugees in both their movement into Iraq and to other countries, as well as supporting their efforts to provide for their families during their time of displacement through livelihood assistance projects. Since the beginning of the crisis, IOM has assisted over 100,000 refugees with transportation, distributed NFIs to nearly 250,000 beneficiaries, and provided livelihood support for 3,441 people.
Turkey: During the month of July, IOM provided NFIs and hygiene kits to 1,953 Syrian households living in Hatay and Urfa provinces.
Lebanon: To improve tuberculosis (TB) case detection rates, IOM in close collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) of the Ministry of Public Health started a nationwide screening campaign for active TB in the beginning of June in major informal settlements and collective shelters in across the country.
