Information by Governorate
Aden governorate
UNHCR conducted protection monitoring in five schools hosting IDPs in Mansoura district where 63 IDP families are living. The IDPs in these schools were displaced from within Aden from districts including Crater, Mualla, Khormaksar, Dar Saad, Qalowah and Tawahi while some families fled from Lahj governorate. There are several persons with medical problems including some older persons with heart conditions who cannot obtain medication. The ICRC has, however, provided some medical aid. Electricity and water is supplied to the centres through the network but cuts are frequently experienced as is the norm. Some IDPs have received supplies from charitable organisations but not all have received non-food items and in consequence there is a need for items such as mattresses and kitchen sets. During Ramadhan the IDPs cooked food, which they subsequently sold in order to gain some income. Most of the IDPs are government employees and no longer receive their salaries. Generally, there was no tension between the IDPs and no indication of protection incidents having occurred.
