HIGHLIGHTS
During the reporting period, a total of six boats carrying 59 individuals arrived in Somalia from Yemen to Berbera and another remote location in Somaliland (25 persons) and Bossaso, Puntland (34 persons). Out of them, 42 individuals (17 in Bossaso and 25 in Berbera) were registered by UNHCR in collaboration with local authorities and partners in Berbera and Bossaso Reception Centers.
The most recent arrivals were on 14 September 2015 in Bossaso: a boat carrying 12 individuals (one Yemeni, two unaccompanied minor Somali children and other 9 Somalis); and a boat carrying three passengers of Somali nationality. On 10 September a boat arrived in Bossaso carrying 19 passengers (15 Somalis and four 4 Yemenis). The latest arrival in Berbera was on 11 September, two boats carrying 21 individuals (16 Yemenis and 5 Somalis). On 13 September, a family of four Somali nationals approached the Reception Center in Berbera for assistance after travelling from Yemen on a fishing boat and disembarking in a remote area of the Somaliland coastline.
A total of 165 Somali returnees from Yemen (29 families) have reached South Central regions of Somalia, during the reporting period: 119 individuals of 20 families returned to Mogadishu, Hodan district; 30 individuals of five families to Baidoa; eight individuals of two families to Luuq and eight individuals of two families to Kismayo. All were verified and 21 vulnerable returnees in Baidoa received the assistance package by UNHCR.
