Highlights

· UNICEF in partnership with WFP and the Ministry of Health in Warrap State launched the Nutrition Scale-Up Social Mobilization Programme. With this programme, Ministry of Health social mobilizers will screen 250,000 children under 5, and treat all children identified with acute malnutrition. It is estimated that 25,000 children are suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in the state. The most recent Food Security and Nutrition Monitoring System survey showed a 17.6 per cent global acute malnutrition (GAM) rate for Warrap State, above the 15 per cent WHO emergency threshold.

· To date, as part of the Back-to-Learning (BTL) Initiative, UNICEF has provided 245,825 children (42 per cent girls) aged 3-18 with Education in Emergencies (EiE) services through the provision of technical assistance, supplies and operating costs to partners as well as through RRM direct implementation.

· Over 5,000 children and women reached through UNICEF’s first rapid response mission to Western Equatoria state, responding to the urgent needs displaced families in Mudubai and Muko in Maridi County.

· Approximately 10,780 unaccompanied, separated, and missing children have received family tracing services, of which 8,568 cases remain active and open requiring continued services. In the past two weeks, 44 children were reunified with their parents, bringing the total of reunified children to 2,695 this year.
