Drought Situation & EW Phase Classification Biophysical Indicators
- Rainfall: The onset of OND was in the 2nd week of October. Some areas received first rains in the 4th week. Heavy rains with good spatial and temporal distribution were experienced in the month of November.
- Vegetation condition: There is a notable improvement in the vegetation condition in the county. There is plenty of quality forage in both marginal mixed farming (MMF) and mixed farming (MF) livelihood zones.
Socio Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)
Production indicators: The season’s crop is good, mainly at the flowering/tussling, podding/grain filling and physiological maturity stages. Livestock body condition and health is good and stable; milk production is fairly good for all milking species.
Access indicators: Terms of trade are within the norm. Water distances for both households and livestock within normal range and milk consumption fairly good at households level.
Utilization Indicators: MUAC rates for children 12-59 months and coping strategy index for households are within normal range.
