This Situation Report is issued by the National Emergency Operation Centre and covers the period from 0800 hours - 1600 hours on Tuesday, 15/03/2016. This report summarises all reports and briefs submitted from the four (04) Divisional Emergency Operation Centres (DEOC’s).
1.0 HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST 12 HOURS
PM visited villages in Ra today including Nakorotubu, Matainananu, Delaiyadua, Dogolo, Naivoco, Nayavutoka, Nabukadra, Verevere, Saioko and Namarai.
Unloading of ration to continues today from MLC Sigavou at Nabouwalu. Ration has been distributed from the Buca settlement to Kuladrusi estate; from the Airport junction to the settlement before Nukubalavu village. 5,000 litres water carts have been delivered to Nasavu settlement, Naiqaqi and Navava yesterday.
Tremendous increase in attendance for Primary schools (by 22%); and secondary schools (by 37%) in the western division. Refer to Appendix 1.
Schools used as Evacuation centers in Ra have been vacated with the clean-up to be done today.
Pacific Disability Forum together with Fiji Disabled Persons Federation will be conducting its assessment from 16/03/16 of its members in affected areas. An estimate number of 4,534 persons with disabilities are affected.
Following successful deployments, USAR and NZMAT teams have now cleaned their equipment, ready for return to NZ. NZMAT have established a list of supplies (consumables and drugs) that they plan to provide to the Lomaloma Hospital – awaiting approval from MOH.
The MV Iloilovatu to leave for the Southern Lau Group on 17/3/2016 for its Ration Distribution Trip.
The Native Land Commission & the EOC Team in the Central Divison will be visiting villagers within the Verata, Namena, Dawasamu, Wailevu, Naloto & Sawakasa for the relocation and demarcation process set by the government for the worst affected areas. The exercise will start on Tuesday (15/03/16).
