A national polio vaccination campaign reached some four million children with vital polio vaccinations and vitamin A in 89 high risk localities across fifteen states.
The water provision through water trucking in Sortony, North Darfur, has been increased to an average of 254,000 litres of water per day (13 litres of water per person per day) which is an increase of 32 per cent when compared with the last week of March.
383 conflict affected children across Sudan (179 boys and 204 girls) were identified as separated and unaccompanied this month and have since been reunified with their families or placed in alternative care. In Meriam, West Kordofan, all of the 150 unaccompanied and separated children identified in the last quarter have now been placed in alternative care.
580,023 children were screened (with 17,848 SAM cases identified) as part of community-based exercises to accelerate the identification of children suffering from SAM and refer them for early treatment.
The integration of child friendly spaces and learning spaces has aided 2,435 newly arrived South Sudanese refugee children in their preparation for a return to education.

Humanitarian Needs
An estimated 55,500 South Sudanese refugees (38,850 children) have arrived in East Darfur (43,201), South Darfur (4,125) and West Kordofan states (7,309), since the end of January 2016. Some 27,000 have sought refuge in Khor Omer IDP camp in East Darfur with many others seeking refuge in Meiram (3,389) and Kharasana (3,920), West Kordofan. They are reportedly originating from South Sudan’s Northern and Eastern Bahr El Gazal states as well as Warrap State due to crop failure, rising food prices and conflict. In total 224,620 South Sudanese refugees have sought refuge in Sudan since the outbreak of conflict in South Sudan in December 2013, of which 157,234 are children. Conflict in Jebel Marra continues to cause displacement with people fleeing to areas of North, South and Central Darfur. Some 14,369 people have been verified as newly displaced in Central Darfur with unconfirmed reports that over 3,900 displaced people have arrived in Kass (South Darfur) since the most recent conflict began in mid-January. Moreover, 5,200 displaced people from Jebel Marra area have fled to the Fanga Suk area (4,200) and Rokero town (1,000) and are in need of food, water, shelter, health services and sanitation assistance. In Rongatass in Central Darfur 5,750 displaced people have returned from Mornei IDP camp in West Darfur. Priority needs including sanitation, water, shelter, health services and agricultural assistance.
