Highlights

• Completeness for weekly reporting was 37% for the nonconflictaffected states and 56% for the IDP sites.

• Malaria is the top cause of morbidity in IDPs and nonconflict-affected areas.

• Malaria cases in Bentiu PoC, greater Northern Bahr el Ghazal and greater Warrap exceeded expected levels in the week.

• Cholera outbreaks confirmed in Juba, Terekeka, and Duk. Five AWD deaths in Bor South.

• During the week, malaria was the leading cause of mortality in IDPs.

Special focus on measles

• Eleven suspect measles cases were reported from Kapoeta South (9), Rumbek East (1), and Yirol West (1). (Table 4.1).

• While no new confirmed measles outbreaks have been reported; over 90 suspect measles samples have not been tested in the national measles laboratory.

• Since the beginning of 2016, a total of 1,575 measles cases including at least 17 deaths (CFR 1.08%) have been reported countrywide. Measles outbreaks have been confirmed in 12 counties.

• A countrywide measles follow up campaign is planned for November 2016.
