Highlights

• Completeness for weekly reporting was 31% for the nonconflictaffected states and 39% for the IDP sites.

• Malaria is the top cause of morbidity in IDPs and nonconflict-affected areas.

• Malaria cases in Bentiu PoC and Northern Bahr el Ghazal exceeded expected levels in the week.

• 36 suspect cholera cases including 2 deaths reported in Juba.

• There were no new suspect hemorrhagic fever case reported from Aweil.

• During the week, malaria was the leading cause of mortality in IDPs.

Special focus on measles

• Seventeen suspect measles cases were reported from Gogrial West (12), Yirol West (1), Mayom (2), Tonj South (1), and Bor South (1). (Table 4.1).

• While no new confirmed measles outbreaks have been reported; over 90 suspect measles samples have not been tested in the national measles laboratory.

• Since the beginning of 2016, a total of 1,564 measles cases including at least 17 deaths (CFR 1.09%) have been reported countrywide. Measles outbreaks have been confirmed in 12 counties.

• A countrywide measles follow up campaign is planned for November 2016.
