Biophysical Indicators
- The month of July was characterized by hot, windy and dry weather conditions.
- The vegetation condition for the month was below average as compared to the previous years. The Vegetation Condition Index (VCI) of 53.46 was registered.
- Rivers flows have reduced registering below normal levels. Distances to water sources have increased and water rationing has been activated in some parts of the constituency.
Socio Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)
- Livestock body conditions and health were good across livelihood zones.
- Milk production has decreased to 6.6 bottles as compared to the previous month but was above the long term average.
- Milk consumption increased to 1.8 bottles as compared to the last month.
- Terms of trade stood at 0.24 a slight decline from the month of June.
- Percentage at risk of malnutrition increased to 1.7 percent over one fold as compared to the previous month.
- Coping strategy index of 1.1 was reported indicating increased frequency in coping strategies employed compared to last month.
