WFP delivered 1,572 mt of food for school meals in August before the academic year begins in September and technical training was provided to Ministry of Education focal points. WFP currently has sufficient resources for school meals until the end of October, however without an additional USD 2 million, WFP will be forced to suspend the school meal programme in November.
WFP’s nutrition programme has remained suspended since May 2016, due to a shortage in Super Cereal Plus. The specialized commodity is expected to arrive in mid-September.
WFP signed a field level agreement with the Regional Health Department to restart the treatment of moderate acute malnutrition activities once Super Cereals Plus becomes available. Training of health staff has been conducted.
