Greece: Epidemiological surveillance in points of care for refugees/migrants: Weekly Report - Week 35/2016 (29/08 to 04/09)

SUMMARY

In week 35/2016 (29/08 to 04/09) the system for epidemiological surveillance in points of care for refugees/migrants received data from 46 centres hosting refugees/migrants out of a total of 50 centres participating in the system (rate 92%).

During this week, the observed morbidity ranged within the expected limits. Two cases of “jaundice with acute onset” were reported from two centres, for which further investigation showed that they were Hepatitis A cases. Necessary public health measures were taken.

No case was recorded for the following syndromes/health conditions: [7] Malaria (with positive rapid test), [8] Suspected diphtheria (respiratory or cutaneous), [10] Paralytic manifestations of acute onset, [11] Meningitis and/or encephalitis, [12] Haemorrhagic manifestations with fever, [13] Sepsis or shock (septic, of unknown aetiology), [14] Death of unknown aetiology (see table 1).

Furthermore, 4 cases of hepatits A in refugees hosted in different structures were reported through the mandatory notification system, for which necessary public health measures were taken, as well as one imported case of malaria.
