No rainfall was received over the last one month and this is normal during this time of the year.
Pasture and browse condition in the marginal mixed farming zone and parts of Mixed of mixed farming zone along Mombasa road had deteriorated more.
Most surface water sources had dried up in most areas in the marginal mixed farming zone and also parts of mixed farming livelihood zonessuch as Ngaamba areain Kilome division.
Socio Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)
Generally the body condition for goats was good and fair to good for cattle except in Ngaamba where a body condition index of 3 was evident (thin fore ribs visible).
Currently the drought risk is medium hence capacity building of the communities should be encouraged at this time.
There were no cases of migration though it’s expected within the next 1- 2 months.
The main agricultural activity was harvesting of green grams, cowpeas and pigeon peas
