HIGHLIGHTS
On 14 August, the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon appointed Mr. Parfait Onanga-Anyanga of Gabon as the Acting Special Representative for the Central African Republic and Head of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
His appointment follows the resignation of Lieutenant General Babacar Gaye on 12 August.The Central African Republic’s National Transitional Council opened itsth Extraordinary Session on 10 August. Issues such as the upcoming elections, the right of refugees to vote and the project of a new constitution will be debated and determined by the end of the session, due on 24 August.
